Weird. I JUST bought a new car last night and I feel so guilty for being a car owner. I justify this by telling myself that in the last 3 years I have put only 10k miles on my car, yet I still have this nagging voice in the back of my head shaming me for claiming to be environmentally active but am not so hardcore to use the damned public transportation!

Anyways, I bought a Scion xA. Scion is owned by Toyota, they have EXCELLENT resale value (the used are more expensive than the new right now), they are tiny little things that get very good mileage and they are cheap! If you are thinking about a good eco friendly car (that doesn't have the price tag of a hybrid) you should test drive the Scions.

Ick. Do I sound like I work for Scion? I'm terrible.

Taryn, we might take a look at that thanks! I didn't know that about Scions (given that I pay no real attention to cars). We're certainly looking for fuel efficiency, and for that reason newish Toyotas are pretty good. Thanks!

A friendly car, huh. That's a really good option if you're looking for a good car. Driving one of your own cars can really be awesome in some ways. That's a good suggestion from Taryn, by the way. Look for the cars that have the same level of "friendliness" as the Scion so that you'll be able to pick out the most suitable car for you.

Buy My Book?

  • The book I co-wrote with my business partner Lauren Bacon is available at Amazon. How nutty is that? The Boss of You is a business book for women looking for advice to start or run a successful small business. The book features advice from some pretty smart gals including Jenny Hart (Sublime Stitching), Grace Boney (Design Sponge), Alex Beauchamp (Another Girl at Play), and many others.
