Thanks Martha (Not)!
A few weeks ago I was truly suprised and elated to find an email from Megan of NotMartha reporting that she had spied some 6" pie plates at Sur La Table in Seattle. Those of you who have been loyal readers of domicile (or have been subject to my in person quest for the 6" pie plate) will recall that I have devoted far too much of my own (and unsuspecting blog readers) time thinking about how my life would be made all that much better by the invention of the 6" pie plate. The theory being this: that your typical 1 or 2 person household of the 20/30somethings of today really don't need a full 10 or 12" pie laying around too often. Which is a pity because pie is just so darned good. And while one can easily make a small batch of cupcakes to satisfy a cake craving there is little in the way of a pie equivalent. And I love pie. A lot. And if one had 6" pie plates one could make a regular pie recipe, divide it into the two plates and put one in the freezer to pull out later. And wouldn't that just be awesome! Seriously.
Anyway, all that to say that it turns out that there are occasions when wishing and hoping for things outloud on the internet can sometimes work out for you (or in this case me). For it would seem that either my crazy ramblings, conveyence of neurotic obsession or (possibly) brilliant two mini-pie theory stuck in Megan's head such that she took the time to note them, email me and go so far as to offer to mail them to me. Isn't the internet wonderful? I declined her incredibly generous posting offer, as I had plans to be in Seattle soon. And in fact, was there last week and picked up not one, not two but four of those 6" lovelies. Who could resist?! They aren't listed on the Sur La Table website, but they've got'em in store for $3.99. I plan to try out my theory and new pie plates tomorrow with an abundance of organic pink lady apples that are currently getting a bit soft in the kitchen. Betcha can't wait to hear the results of my theory in practice hey?
